Wholesale Truck Buyer

We're looking for a new Wholesale Truck Buyer who will be responsible for purchasing trucks to ensure TransChicago has the proper inventory of trucks to provide to our customers. This person will own the full process including bidding on, negotiation pricing for, and coordinating the purchase and transport of vehicles in accordance with company metrics. Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Purchase predetermined quantities of trucks.
- Analyze truck purchases to maintain margins and ensure alignment with TransChicago's sales goals.
- Negotiate contracts for large volume purchases to ensure best possible terms.
- Build and maintain rapport with customers/suppliers.
- Identify and execute on opportunities to sell wholesale truck inventory.
- Maintain sufficient inventory for sales team.
- Assign value to used truck trades.
- Arrange transportation with required vendors to various locations.
- Record and maintain required documentation for local, state and federal requirements.
- Operate and follow all applicable laws while implementing new policies/procedures as necessary to maintain legal compliance in new areas of operation.
- Support TransChicago Truck Group projects and operations as required.
Education and/or Required Experience:
- Bachelors in Business/Finance preferred; High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- 3-5 years experience in heavy duty truck sales and prior purchasing experience.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to evaluate packages and negotiate favorable terms.
- Detail orientated and highly organized.
- Ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office suite.
- Required 20% local travel requirements to customers and vendor appointments.
- Compensation: $30,000 base salary plus commission and additional incentives based on eligible sales and transactions. Depending on performance, On Target Earnings (OTE) in the first year are anticipated to be above $100,000.
